Health Tip of the Day
Studies suggest that thyroid function may drop as much as 50% each time calories are significantly decreased, making weight loss increasingly difficult and weight gain after dieting much more likely. The body, in its attempt to preserve life, perceives decreased calorie intake as a threat to survival, and drops the body's metabolism accordingly. For long-term weight loss success, consider adding nutrient dense vegetables and healthy foods to the diet to crowd out nutrient-depleted processed junk foods instead of drastically decreasing caloric intake.
